Lot 202: Two antique pharmaceutical ceramic items including a Dr Nelson's Improved Inhaler and a Cascara Sagrada extract jar

Two ceramic pharmaceutical vessels. The first is a white glazed earthenware steam inhaler of bulbous form with an integral spout and a tapered neck. The front of the vessel features a printed black inscription reading DR NELSON’S IMPROVED INHALER in an arched layout. Below this, a shield-shaped border contains printed text stating DIRECTIONS FOR USE REMOVE MOUTHPIECE, HALF FILL INHALER WITH BOILING WATER REPLACE MOUTHPIECE & APPLY LIPS TO IT, BREATHE FREELY IN & OUT AS IN ORDINARY FULL RESPIRATION. The neck is fitted with a cork stopper and a curved glass tube mouthpiece. The second item is a cylindrical white ceramic jar with a black screw-top lid. The body features a printed black label in a decorative cartouche reading EXTR. DE CASC. SAGR. Two gilded bands encircle the exterior, positioned near the top and bottom.
