Lot 219: A Mid-Century Sommerso Art Glass Swung Vase 34cm tall
A mid-century art glass vase executed in the Sommerso technique. The vessel features a solid, tapered cylindrical base rising to a flared, six-lobed pulled rim. The glass displays a dual-layered colourway, with a central core of amber-brown encased within a layer of smoke-grey to light-purple glass. The body is formed with vertical fluting that follows the contours of the undulated rim.
The base is flat-ground and polished, showing fine surface scratches. There are no maker’s marks, signatures, or labels visible on the object. The interior glass contains occasional minor seeds (air bubbles), characteristic of hand-blown production.
