Lot 285: A Set of Seven Antique Clear Glass Chemist Apothecary Jars

A set of seven rectangular clear glass apothecary jars of the form historically used in pharmaceutical displays. Each vessel features a ground glass neck and shoulder designed to receive a corresponding stopper. The group includes six square-topped ground glass stoppers. The front of each jar is finished with black enamel lettering transcribing abbreviated Latin names for medicinal chemicals: AMMON. BROM., SOD. SALICYL. PULV., RHEI. PULV., MAGNES SULPH., AC. BORAC. PULV., CAFF. CIT., and CALC. HYPO. An impressed mark is present on the base of the jar labelled CALC. HYPO. (photo 4) but is not legible as a name.
