Lot 287: A set of Porter of Bolton two-tone stoneware storage jars

A set of seven cylindrical stoneware storage jars, each featuring a matching flat lid with a central button knob. The jars are decorated in a two-tone glaze, with a honey-brown salt glaze to the upper section and lid, and a cream-coloured stoneware body below. The two sections are divided by a decorative band of impressed beaded moulding. One jar features a rectangular impressed stamp on the lower body reading PORTER above BOLTON. The set includes jars with incised capacity markings, with one marked 1 PT and another marked 2 lb below the beaded border.
