Lot 305: Large antique clear glass apothecary storage jar with faceted stopper 50cm tall

A large antique clear glass apothecary or chemist storage jar featuring a wide cylindrical body and a narrow ground glass neck. The accompanying glass stopper is of complex form, comprising a wide domed flange, a bulbous mid-section, and a terminal finial with eight vertical facets. The jar is constructed with a thick, flat base and shows signs of being mold-blown, including a slight vertical taper towards the shoulder. The internal rim of the jar and the corresponding surface of the stopper have been ground to facilitate an airtight seal. There are no maker marks, labels, or country-of-origin markings visible on the body, base, or stopper.

Using the Colman’s mustard jar (standing 6cm tall) for scale, the assembly measures approximately 34.5cm in height. The jar itself has a base diameter of approximately 11cm.
