Lot 319: A Collection of Antique and Vintage Brass and Cast Metal Scale Weights

A collection of antique and vintage weighing scale weights, comprising various cased sets and individual bell weights. The lot includes an apothecary weight set housed in a light-coloured wooden rectangular box with two brass hook-and-eye closures. The box interior is fitted for brass weights and contains three larger knobbed weights, one of which is stamped 200, and six smaller knobbed weights. A lower compartment with a clear sliding cover contains small square sheet-metal weights and a pair of metal tweezers. The lid features corresponding recesses to accommodate the weights. A second set consists of ten graduated brass knobbed weights in a narrow mahogany-type box with a felt-lined base and circular recesses; markings including 50 and 10 are visible on the shoulders of the larger pieces. Also included is a nested set of four circular brass cup weights, the smallest top weight stamped 1 OZ. Completing the collection are two large bell-style metal weights with dark patinas. The first has a rounded knob handle and a circular base with a square lead-filled adjustment cavity stamped with the number 17. The second features a distinctive loop handle and a base showing multiple stamped verification marks including a crown, the letters ER, and the numbers 5, 19, and L 9, surrounding a central lead calibration plug.
