Lot 326: Victorian Gothic Revival Cast Iron Umbrella Stand

A Victorian cast iron umbrella stand in the Gothic Revival style. The stand features a high, arched back decorated with pierced foliate and floral openwork. The central column is composed of three square panels, each housing a stylized quatrefoil floral motif within a raised border. A rectangular guard rail is bolted to the mid-section to secure walking sticks and umbrellas. The assembly rests on a stepped plinth base. The reverse shows the construction method, consisting of multiple cast sections secured by square-headed nuts and bolts. The stand is fitted with a removable rectangular drip tray with rounded lugs at either end to facilitate lifting. The surfaces are finished in black paint. No maker name, foundry marks, or registration numbers are readable on the surfaces.
