Lot 335: A British Brass and Steel Flame Safety Miner Lamp

A flame safety miners lamp constructed with a tapered steel bonnet and a heavy brass base. The steel bonnet is formed with a riveted vertical seam and features a series of circular ventilation apertures below a flat, riveted steel cap. A heavy wrought iron suspension hook is attached to a central loop on the cap. The mid-section comprises a clear glass cylinder protected by five vertical brass pillars. The heavy brass fuel font at the base includes a side-mounted mechanical locking mechanism. A brass cross-shaped winding key is situated on the underside of the base. Stamped characters are visible on the brass shoulder of the base but are not legible as a name or specific sequence. The glass cylinder bears faint etched markings including the numeral 9, though the remaining characters are illegible.
