Lot 501: A Collection of Four Antique Straight Razors with Original Boxes

An assortment of four folding straight razors and four associated cardboard cases. The first razor is a German-made silver steel example featuring a hollow ground blade with a yellow and silver design etched to the face reading SILVER STEEL GOTTA REG. SUPERFINE. The reverse of the tang is stamped with the number 120 and GOTTA within a rectangular border. It is fitted with black synthetic handles. The second razor features a blade etched with the word DERWENT and a tang stamped SHEFFIELD, fitted with black synthetic handles. The third razor is a Solingen example featuring a cream-coloured synthetic handle and a blade etched with geometric patterns and a central portrait. The tang is stamped BUR SOLI. The fourth razor is a black-handled example, the tang of which is stamped BEST SHEFFIELD STEEL FORGED AND REAL HOLLOW GROUND IN ENGLAND.

The accompanying cases comprise a dark blue cardboard box stamped in gold BURNELL’S RAZORS GENUINE HOLLOW GROUND W. BURNELL SHEFFIELD; a dark purple cardboard box stamped in gold RASIERMESSER FEINSTE FACHARBEIT SOLINGEN GERMANY; a worn blue textured cardboard box with the words Real Hollow Ground in England partially visible; and a brown textured cardboard case stamped BUTLER’S KEEN RAZOR with a trade mark featuring a key and the words TRADE MARK GRANTED.
