Lot 502: Italian hand carved alabaster pedestal side table

An Italian hand-carved alabaster pedestal side table constructed in turned sections. The circular top features a chamfered edge and is supported by a baluster-form stem with a bulbous lower section. The piece is joined by a central metal rod, visible at the base with a wingnut fastener. The alabaster displays characteristic veining in shades of grey and charcoal against a creamy white and pale beige ground. An adhesive blue and gold scalloped label is present on the underside of the top and the underside of the base, reading GENUINE ALABASTER / HAND CARVED IN ITALY with a logo at the bottom centre consisting of two back-to-back letter Bs.
