Lot 533: A Collection of Vintage Dinky Toys and Tinplate Model Vehicles
A collection of vintage mid-20th-century model vehicles and accessories. The group features a Dinky Toys land speed record car finished in silver-grey with blue cockpit detailing; the baseplate is embossed in uppercase characters reading DINKY TOYS, MADE IN ENGLAND BY MECCANO LIMITED.
The set includes two streamlined tinplate cars, one finished in red and yellow and one in blue and red, both featuring lithographed passenger graphics in the windows. The undersides show red-painted metal chassis with exposed gears for a friction or clockwork mechanism.
Also present is a Dinky Toys Esso fuel station accessory, comprising three red fuel pumps on a shared base with a pump attendant figure, the pumps featuring the Esso logo in a red oval. Further die-cast vehicles include a blue Jaguar Mark X, a light blue saloon with a roof aperture, a black Volkswagen Transporter with a sliding side door and green interior, a white and grey ambulance with AMBULANCE printed to the side, a yellow and grey coupe with white tyres, a green open-top tourer with side-mounted spare wheel, and a red and black Jeep-type vehicle.
The collection is completed by a small tinplate railway coach in red, yellow, and grey, and a die-cast toy pistol with orange plastic grips embossed THE DADDY and MADE IN ENGLAND on the barrel, alongside two small black die-cast sports cars.
