Lot 679: A Group of Indian Hammered Copper Pandan Boxes and Vessels
A collection of hand-hammered and chased copper items, primarily comprising a large circular pandan (betel nut) storage box. The main carrier features a hinged lid with a copper swing handle and a front-mounted hasp for locking. Inside, the box contains an assortment of nesting components, including three cylindrical lidded canisters and several small pots. The canisters and an internal tray are decorated with intricate repoussé and chased floral scrollwork featuring roses and foliate motifs. The construction shows traditional metalworking techniques with visible rivets and heavy-gauge copper. Some interior pots retain traces of tinning.
