Lot 680: An Indian Silk and Metallic Thread Brocaded Patchwork Textile 222x263cm

A large Indian patchwork textile, possibly a quilt or wall hanging, constructed from numerous squares and triangles of diverse silk and metallic-thread fabrics. The central field is arranged in a diamond grid pattern featuring a rich palette of ochre, burgundy, teal, and magenta. Many individual sections are decorated with traditional brocaded motifs including paisley, buta, and floral patterns. The border is composed of teal silk with a silver-coloured metallic print or woven design featuring repeated paisley and floral elements. The reverse is finished with a plain black fabric. The construction is hand-stitched, with visible joining thread and extensive use of zari metallic brocade across the surface patches.
