Lot 404: Late 19th Century English Mixed Wood Windsor Hoop-Back Armchair

A traditional English Windsor hoop-back armchair, featuring a double-bow construction with a decorative central splat. The chair is crafted from mixed woods, with a thick, shaped solid elm saddle seat showing a distinctive wide grain. The back incorporates a steam-bent hoop supporting narrow spindles and a central splat pierced with a stylized fleur-de-lis and heart motif. The armrests are supported by further spindles and terminate in shaped hand rests. The underframe consists of four ring-turned legs joined by a steam-bent crinoline stretcher and rear straight stretchers. No maker marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the underside or frame.
