Lot 440: A Flemish Baroque Style Carved Oak Oval Wall Mirror

An oval wall mirror featuring a heavily carved dark oak frame in the Flemish Baroque revival style. The frame is elaborately decorated in high relief, topped with a cresting figure of a seated putto resting upon scrollwork. The base is centred by a carved female mask, possibly a sea nymph or mermaid, with flowing hair. The surround is adorned with deeply carved vine leaves, grape clusters, and scroll motifs. The lateral sections feature architectural brackets with incised cross-hatched detailing. The mirror plate is secured within a moulded oval inner frame. The reverse is fitted with a dark wood backing board held by small nails and includes a wire for hanging.
