Lot 54: Sterling Silver Cherub Repoussé Pill Box Birmingham circa 24g

A circular sterling silver trinket box of hinged construction featuring a decorative repoussé lid. The lid depicts two winged cherub heads amongst clouds, set within a laurel wreath border tied with a bow at the base. The body of the box is formed with a plain, polished convex profile. The interior of both the base and lid retains a gilded finish. The base bears a set of four impressed marks: a maker’s mark consisting of the capital letters H and M in a rectangular shield, an anchor assay mark for Birmingham, a passant lion standard mark for .925 sterling silver, and a stylized lowercase p date letter in a shaped shield.
