Lot 567: A Pumphrey's Enamelled Metal Advertising Sign 50x68cm

A vintage enamelled metal advertising sign for Pumphrey’s. The vertical sign features a deep forest green background with a central monochrome illustration of a woman in Victorian or Edwardian style dress. She is depicted seated at a table with a complete coffee service on a tray, including a lidded coffee pot, a cream jug, a sugar bowl with cubes, and a cup on a saucer. The woman is shown holding a small item, possibly a sugar cube, between her fingers.

The top of the sign features an arched cream-coloured banner with the printed name PUMPHREY’S in a stylized serif font. This arch is supported by Art Nouveau inspired scroll and line decoration. At the base, a rectangular cream section contains the printed text COFFEE SERVED HERE in black serif lettering. The sign is constructed from sheet metal with an enamelled finish and is shaped with rounded corners. Two mounting holes are located at the top edge.
