Lot 593: 20th Century Folk Art Harbour Scene Oil on Panel

A 20th-century maritime harbour scene executed in oil on a textured wooden panel. The work is rendered in a folk art style, featuring a dark, moody palette with a high-contrast sky. The composition depicts a busy port with numerous sailing vessels moored alongside a quay. Notable architectural elements include a tall, stepped building topped with two crosses on the left and a square masonry tower to the right. The foreground shows a choppy sea with two small boats and несколько seagulls, one perched upon a floating barrel. The artist has used thick impasto to create the stylised, textured clouds. The painting is housed in a dark wood frame with a gilt inner slip. Several vertical incised marks and a rounded loop are present in the dark paint at the lower right corner (photo 2), but these characters are not legible as a name.
