Lot 605: A Collection of Fourteen Decorative Glass and Silver Mounted Vanity Bottles and Jars
A collection of fourteen decorative glass and silver-mounted vanity bottles and jars, primarily European in origin. The assortment includes a tall blown glass bottle with a ribbed cylindrical body and a clear spherical stopper, and a heavy, squat-form blown glass bottle featuring internal blue and white swirling patterns. One clear crackle-glass bottle is decorated with internal yellow, black, and green inclusions in abstract shapes and stands on a dark circular base. Two cut-glass bottles feature ornate silver-toned metal collars and hinged caps with floral and scrolled repoussé work; one is of globular form, while the other is a pointed, faceted drop shape. A cylindrical cut-glass dressing table jar is fitted with a circular silver-toned lid featuring a dark inlay, possibly tortoiseshell or faux-tortoiseshell.
The group also includes a clear glass bottle with a textured bubble or hobnail surface and a simple silver-toned metal cap. One clear, modern blown glass bottle bears a rectangular clear adhesive label on the body with black text reading KROSNO over POLAND. Two bottles display iridescent surface finishes: one pear-shaped with a flared rim and one spherical with a long glass applicator stopper. A cobalt blue glass bottle of oval profile features a colourful enameled design of two intertwined snakes and is topped with a spherical silver-toned cap. Smaller decorative pieces include a green-tinted crackle glass bottle with a flame-style stopper, a smoky glass bottle within a scrolled metal frame set with a black cabochon, and a miniature teardrop bottle. The silver-toned mounts show surface oxidation and tarnish.
