Lot 734: A Mid-Century Modern cast metal lotus flower modular candle holder and ashtray set

A Mid-Century Modern modular table garniture in the form of a lotus or water lily flower. The set comprises a central candle holder base and six removable petal dishes. The central section features a textured candle cup supported by a stylised stem with two integrated leaves, designed to act as a stable tripod base. The six surrounding petals are cast with a hammered-effect interior and ribbed exterior, each featuring a tapered tab at the base to slot into the central frame. When assembled, the dishes form the petals of a blooming flower; when removed, they serve as individual ashtrays or nut dishes. The set is constructed from a cast white metal alloy with a dark, aged patina and areas of bronze-toned surface wear. No maker’s marks, hallmarks, or country of origin labels are visible on the base or the individual petals.
