A sterling silver-backed hair brush featuring an ornate repousse design of foliate scrolls, acanthus leaves, and floral motifs on a stippled ground. The decoration incorporates a prominent Green Man or grotesque mask at one end. A central oval cartouche is left blank. The silver casing is stamped with the word FILLED, indicating a weighted core for structural support. The natural bristles are set into a wooden base. The side rim bears a series of hallmarks: a rectangular stamp reading FILLED, an oval maker’s mark reading B&Co for Broadway & Co, an anchor for the Birmingham assay office, a lion passant for sterling silver, and a Gothic letter f for the year 1905.
