Lot 95: A George VI Sterling Silver Sugar Caster by Marson and Jones Birmingham circa 75g

A George VI sterling silver sugar caster of inverted baluster form. The piece features a polished finish to the body and a spreading circular pedestal foot. The removable domed cover is decorated with pierced foliate and geometric scrollwork, terminating in a small pointed finial. The foot bears a series of struck marks: a partially rubbed maker’s mark reading M & J, an anchor, a walking lion passant, and the date letter N. The cover is struck with the walking lion passant and the date letter N. An associated handwritten tag reads SUGAR CASTOR MARSON & JONES BIRMINGHAM 1937.
